“Do you trust me?”
This is book one in a series of three. Book two "Love Me?" coming soon.

About the author:

K.E. Osborn

K E Osborn is the Adelaide based Author of the Trust me? Trilogy, a romance series with love, laughter and plenty of lust!

Biography

K E Osborn was born in September 1984 and raised in Adelaide South Australia. She had a love of writing throughout High School but went down a different path to Design instead. It wasn't until she had a vivid dream about a three car pile up that the characters of her first book came to life.
Aiden and Jeni are the amazing couple from the Trust me? Trilogy and they were born into the world through the imagination of K E Osborn in 2012.

EXCERPT ONE:

I exhale. “I have major trust issues with men. My dad left before I was born. My ex… well, he cheated and left me. I can’t just trust that you are who you say you are. I mean how do I know that you won’t treat me the same way?”
He sighs. “Trust issues, huh? I can work with that.” He smiles, lightening the mood. “Let’s take this one day at a time. I don’t plan on hurting you. I don’t think I ever could. Trust is a big thing. It has to be earned. I’ll do my time until you trust me. I’m not planning on going anywhere. I don’t know about you, but for me, there is something here, and I’m willing to wait and work at it to find out what that is. That’s if you want to?”
I can’t help but smile. “I think there’s something here as well, and with time, I’m sure I’ll trust you.”
“I can live with that.”
“Wow! That got serious real quick,” I say, laughing. He nods in agreement. “Aiden,” I say softly.
“Yes, Jeni?”
“Kiss me!”

EXCERPT TWO:

I run through some paperwork when I hear someone clear their throat to get my attention. I look up angrily to see the man who crashed into me this morning. It’s the idiot who enhanced my bad day.
“Jeni, I presume?” he asks with a quirky smile on his face, which is unexpectedly attractive.
I sit in silence as I stare at him with my mouth slightly open in surprise.
He speaks again. “I’m sorry about this morning. I see you managed to get that stain mostly out of your top. I’d like to pay for some new clothes and the damages to your car, if you’ll let me.”
I squirm in my seat as the attractiveness of this man is suddenly apparent. How did I not notice his gorgeousness this morning? He’s, quite frankly, one of the most attractive guys I’ve ever seen. In spite of his outrageously good looks and cheerful persona, I start to get angry with him all over again.
“No, you don’t need to pay for new clothes or for my car. My manager has told me that they will fix it for me and then charge the insurance company. So, like I said this morning, I don’t want or need your charity, thanks.”
He looks at me in surprise. “That’s no way to talk to a customer.” Again with a mischievous grin.
“Urgh.” I want to slap him in his smart-ass, gorgeous face.
“Sorry,” I say with extreme sarcasm. “Can I have the details of your car please, Mr. O’Connell?”
“If you won’t let me buy you some new clothes or fix your car, how about lunch then?”
There’s that grin again. I quickly gather myself together and reply hastily.
“It’s after two, Mr. O’Connell. I’ve had lunch, thanks.” I’m feeling quite pleased with myself as I stand up. “Now, if you wouldn’t mind, the details of your car?”
He looks at me puzzled.
“I didn’t mean today. I meant tomorrow or the next day or the weekend. Whenever you’re free?”
With that, his gorgeous smile crosses his face again, and I begin to melt. Is it hot in here? I can feel my cheeks burning. I look down, pretending to sort out paperwork on my desk so he can’t see the redness spreading across my face.
“I don’t think I can do lunch. I’m pretty busy you know.”
He looks like he’s thinking hard about what to say next and he tilts his head slightly.
“Dinner then?”
I let out a little laugh but quickly gather myself together.
“I could use the details of your car, Mr. O’Connell?”
He grins again.
“Jeez, you’re a tough one to crack, Jeni.”
I try not to smile.
“Okay, how about this? If you give me the pleasure of having dinner with you on Friday night, I’ll give you the details of my car.” He looks very pleased with himself, grinning from ear to ear.
I sigh, considering his deal.
“Oh, um, I don’t know. I mean you’re a customer. Surely there is some sort of rules about customers and employees dating.”
He laughs; the sound is delightful to my ears.
“I won’t tell if you don’t.”
I stand there in shock, contemplating what to say next. I mean could this amazingly handsome man want to take me out to dinner? Really? I’m not anything like the type of girl I’d imagine he would be into. I try to think of some witty comeback, but before I know what’s happening, I sputter, “Fine! Friday for dinner, if it’ll get you to co-operate. Please tell me the details of your car.”
I take a deep breath and wait for him to reply.
“Great, Friday it is. I have your details from this morning. I’ll call you with the restaurant and time.”
I sit back down on my chair in a dazed shock.
“Is that okay with you?”
I shake my head with disbelief.
“Sure, why not?” is all I can mange.
His smile reappears like he has overcome a huge obstacle and triumphed.

EXCERPT THREE:

I turn to face him; he puts his other arm around me. We are in the same position as before when the last kiss attempt failed. My arms are tight around his neck, his arms around my waist. I look down. He lifts up my chin so I’m lost in his gaze. His hand goes back to my waist. He swallows; I think he’s as nervous as I am. He tilts his head and leans in … I back away quickly.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, looking hurt.
“Oh, no, it’s not you. I think … I might have garlic breath.”
He laughs and pulls me back to him. “So do I.” He pulls me in tighter, and before I know what’s happening, his lips are on mine. I give in and surrender to him completely.
This feels like one of my fantasies, only way, way better. He holds me tight as one hand moves from my waist to caress my cheek, kissing me softly but sensually. My hands move to the back of his head, and I grab a lock of hair in each hand. He moves our bodies so that I’m against the railing at the edge of the deck. He moves his hand from my waist to hold the rail as I still grasp his hair. The kissing becomes feverishly passionate; his tongue against mine as they intertwine with each other. Our breathing becomes faster and erratic. Our kissing becomes more intimate. We are in perfect sync with each other. I pull him closer to me, our whole bodies touching. My heart is pounding fast and hard. His hand moves from my face to the back of my head, pulling me tight. He moves my hair from the side of my neck, breaks our kiss and kisses my neck slowly and seductively. I sigh and breathe in a stuttering motion. I open my eyes to see the waitress standing there, gawking at us. I stiffen as I see her. He pulls back and looks at me. With my eyes, I gesture toward the waitress. He turns, looks, and lets out a little huff. He leans in towards me.
“Now that’s a first kiss,” he whispers as he grabs my hand and leads me over to the table. I can’t help but smile.

The beautiful mind behind the books we LOVE

Gail McHugh

I’ve always been a lover of writing, but mostly dabbled in creative poetry while raising my three beautiful children. I am grateful that my husband of fifteen years has supported me—albeit sometimes kicking and screaming—as I pursue this “hobby” of mine. Without his help, writing would be an impossible endeavor.

In late June 2012, I felt an urgent tug of my pen, and I began writing one of my first novels, Collide. Although I thought it might never see the light of day, it gave me the courage to plunge headfirst onto a path I had never considered before.

EXCERPT

I stand here in my driveway watching the movers place the last remaining box in their van.  The house is nothing but a shell now, much like I am.  It once represented so much happiness, but now it feels like nothing but an empty void.  I slowly walk through the only home that I have ever known, for the final time. I put my hand on every possible surface in the house, as if I am taking the memory with me.  Touch.  I pat my hand on the kitchen counter where my momma and I tossed flour on each other while we made my daddy’s favorite cake. We always made such a huge mess, but we had so much fun.Touch My hand slides across the butterflies that adorn my little sister’s bedroom wall.  My daddy and I spent the rainy afternoon painting them to surprise Sophie with. Touch. My fingers trace the marks and dates written on the hallway wall. My parents religiously had measured us to mark our growth over the years.  I wish I could cut this out of the wall.  I don’t want them painted over.  I don’t want them erased as if we were never here.  I snap a picture with my phone so I can have this with me wherever I am.
I can’t fathom another family making memories here; the sold sign out front is painful enough to look at. With one last look around, I shut the front door.  I can see Sophie’s heartbroken face as she stares back at me through the car window.  While all I want to do is break down and cry I know I can’t.  I have to be strong for that sweet face in the window looking back at me. She needs me now, more than ever, and I need her just as much.

Fighting For You—Excerpt
My car slowly pulled into the parking lot and standing directly outside the bar door was Gabby, even from afar I could see she was uncomfortable.  That’s when I noticed behind her was the most amazing man I’ve ever known.  Jeans, hoodie and a beanie—everything about his appearance may seem plain but not to me.  This was perfect—he fit my fading memory of him perfectly.  Strong jaw, downright sexy body and those piercing blue eyes.  Even from afar I couldn’t miss those blues.  They were all I thought about and now, they were staring a whole straight through me.
Gabby lifted a hand and coyly waved, as if she didn’t completely blow our cover.  My heart was in my throat as I half considered turning around and speeding the hell out of this parking lot.  But I knew I couldn’t, I was so drawn to this man and his intimidating glare that I couldn’t turn away if I wanted to.
When I stopped my car, Corey took hold of Gabby’s upper arm and led her to the passenger seat.  He opened the door for her and helped her in.  I watched in complete awe, not truly believing this was happening.  That was when he looked into my eyes and my heart melted.  I saw it there—behind that cold, hard stare was every ounce of pain and sorrow he felt.  That I caused.  I felt the air leaving my lungs as I was punched with the reality of what I did.
“Don’t you fucking dare drive away.” He scolded, before slamming Gabby’s door.  My eyes locked onto him as he stalked around the front of my car towards my side.
“I am so damn sorry, Dani!” Gabby practically pleaded with me to understand.  Although I was pissed, I’d deal with her later because right now all I could think of was Corey—my Corey—I hoped.
In a second he flung open my driver’s side door and clenched the top of it until his knuckles turned white.  He leaned in and the same scent of aftershave mixed with Corey hit me like a ton of bricks.  I wanted to grab hold of his sweatshirt and breath in the smell I missed so much.  It tickled my senses and my very-emotional-self wanted to break down and cry because of how damn much I really did miss him.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” I opened my mouth to answer, but nothing came out.
“You disappear for three goddamn months and you come back and what—test me!” Unfortunately, it was the naturally defensive side of me that spoke up, not the apologetic side that should have made an appearance.
“I was not testing you, I was just…”
Corey immediately cut me off.  Steam practically billowed from his ears.
“You just what, wanted to see if I would hook up with any willing chick thrown into my face?”
“No!” I yelled back. “I just…” Okay, maybe that was exactly what I did. “Fine!  So what!  I just got back today and I wanted to know if you were back to your old ways!”
His teeth grinded together—a rarity for Corey.
“You left me hanging, thinking everything was going to be fucking phenomenal when I woke up.  That everything was going to be fucking perfect—I finally had the only woman I’ve ever loved.  Instead I wake up to a note that broke my fucking heart.  Every single word pierced through me and left me with the aftertaste that I lost it all.  So don’t you for one second think you can come back here and start throwing tests at me!
Angry tears threatened to pour out.  The fight, the phenomenal sex, and that note.  It all came rushing back to me and I felt the air once again being knocked from my lungs.  I couldn’t be here anymore—I needed to go home.   Every harsh breath I took was filled with Corey’s scent and it made this situation that much worse.
Before I could say anything, he leaned in even closer and spoke again.
“And for your information—no—I don’t fuck any random chick that walks into my bar.  Want to know why?” It was clearly a rhetorical question since he gave me no chance to respond.
“Because I am foolish in love with this crazy woman who won’t stop running from me.  I couldn’t forget her even if I tried and she’s the only one I want to be with.  But she is too damn stubborn to let that shit happen.”
I don’t think I’ve ever been at such a loss for words as I was now.  By some cosmic miracle—Corey still loved me—but I was still hurting him.  I needed to do everything possible to rectify the situation before it was too late.  Sadly though, I could hardly form a thought, let alone a sentence.  My mouth hung open like a dead fish as I stared at the man I loved.
“Get your ass home, its cold as hell.  You’re going to get sick if you keep driving around like a maniac.” Corey’s tone softened ever so slightly letting me hear the voice of the man I left behind.
“Okay.” I whispered out.
Corey sighed, the smell of mint brushed against my face.  My eyes closed for a moment to hold in the smell—Lord—I was so pathetic.  I opened my eyes in time to see him pull his beanie off his head.
“Wear a hat from now on.  You don’t want to catch cold.” He said, as he adjusted the hat over my head.  Pulling it down enough to cover my ears.
We were inches apart and I wanted nothing more than to lean my lips into his—the way I used to so carelessly only months before.  But I didn’t.  Instead Corey backed away and took with him the warmth I craved from only him.
“Thank you.” I answered, my eyes locked on his.  Willing him to see into the inner workings of my mind.  To hear everything I couldn’t say at this moment.
Corey went to shut the door, stopped, and looked down at me.
“I’m glad you’re back.” With that he shut the door and returned inside the bar.  Leaving me as a ticking time bomb—ready to break down at the slightest movement.
