~ Excerpt ~

Olivia awoke from an afternoon nap, admiring the beautiful man sleeping peacefully next to her. She glanced around the large bedroom, the duvet and several pillows thrown on the floor. A grin spread across her face, thinking about the amazing sex she had with Alexander just a few hours earlier. She pried herself out of his arms and went in search of a much-needed bathroom. Grabbing her jeans and sweater, she threw them on before quietly walking over to the door, thankful when it didn’t creak and wake up Alexander. After finding a bathroom, she went to see if his mother needed any help getting things ready for that evening. The house was eerily quiet as she walked down the stairs searching for Colleen. “They must all be outside,” she said to herself. She headed in the direction of the back door, when a room off the hallway caught her eye. She stopped dead in her tracks, a memory rushing back. Her fifth birthday. Her mama had made her a cake in the shape of a Care Bear. She could have sworn she remembered her mama and the green-eyed boy from the dream sitting beside her in that very room, singing to her as she blew out the candles on that cake. Turning, she headed toward the ornate dining room, the table and chairs all covered with sheets. Walking around the room, she felt as if she had been there before, but that was impossible. She hadn’t even known Alexander for a year and this was the first time he invited her home with him. Still, the smell and sounds in that room were strangely familiar. She scanned the walls and her eyes settled on a large picture frame covered with a white sheet. The other portraits weren’t hidden. Curious, she slowly made her way to the center of the room where the enormous frame hung. She gingerly began to raise the sheet, wondering what was underneath. “Olivia, dear! There you are!” Colleen called out, startling her. She jumped, placing her hand over her chest. “Colleen. I’m sorry. I came downstairs to see if you needed any help, and I guess I got a little sidetracked.” She shrugged her shoulders, feeling guilty that she was caught snooping around. Colleen walked over to Olivia and placed her hands on her shoulders, trying to lead her out of the room and away from the large family portrait of Alexander and Olivia as children. “I understand. It happens to the best of us.” “Colleen,” Olivia said, raising her voice. “Why is that portrait covered up?” She stopped, turning to look at her. She hated having to lie to the poor girl, particularly when her son should have simply told her the truth by now. He swore he would tell her, and she didn’t want to interfere…not yet, anyway. “I’m sorry, Olivia. It’s just that whenever Alexander comes home, I try to rid the house of any memories of…” “Oh,” she said, understanding. “I should have known.” She turned to head back upstairs, her shoulders slightly dropping. “Olivia, dear!” Colleen called out. She stopped and faced her. “He loves you very much. I’ve never seen him so happy in all his life, even when he was a little boy.” She smiled before retreating back outside, leaving Olivia alone with her thoughts about Alexander and why the dining room in that house brought back memories of her fifth birthday.

Ramblings . . .

Wow...what a book! The whole series was just amazing, love each and one of them. Gorgeous Chaos was the last in the series but yet it did not disappoint at all, in fact i think it might be one of my favourite in the series. God, where do i start...IT WAS JUST AWESOMELY GREAT!  It's got to be one of the most romantic, unbelievably love story i've read, every bit of the story was pouring with love and passion, not just with two couples but friends and family.

Alex Burnham, I didn't think it was possible to love him even more than from A Tragic Wreck, but i think i've fallen even more deeper...His love for Olivia, is just the sweetest thing and any girl will wish to find their own Mr Burnham that loves them that madly and crazily. A just a tragic fairytale but his you believe and listen to your heart everything will be on your side.

Alex and Oliver, are two couple that are truly meant to be together, after many twist and turns and bumps in the road they reunite but still tragic still follows them, with lots of uncertainty from Olivia with Alex because of her lack of memories of her past, she is yet to realise they both are bond to each other no matter how many years, distant or even danger is put between them, Alex will always be there to protect his Olivia even if Olivia doesn't quite agree with his rules and ways but he just cant' lose her again. They are each other's life.

The final instalment is even more thrilling, charming and nerve racking than the pervious two. I had such a emotional of a roller coaster, my heart sank a few times, and stomach as turning at lot the moment. The author really, bought out all the emotions and feelings really well, it feel like your right in the story, going through what they are. I loved it.  you just can't help love each character no matter what.

The unexpected twist was a shocker in the end, i really didn't see this coming. I was so shocked and angry with the unexpected twist, which really took me surprised but it was good as you wouldn't see it coming at all. This book really does take you through all the emotions, loved every moments of it. I was a page turner from the beginning. You really have to read the first two to understand the story. Even though we waited awhile for this last instalment, once i start reading all the characters came rushing back to me, along with the story. Its a hard story to forget. I really is a must read series!

Review ~ Love, in English by Karina Halle

Beautiful!

He’s thirty-eight. I’m twenty-three.

He speaks Spanish. I speak English.

He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.

He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.

He’s married and has a five-year old daughter. I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.

Until now.Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the f*#king truth.

***

To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.

Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Latino charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.

Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.

Something that can never, ever be.

Or so she thinks

Ramblings . . . (and boy do I ramble this this one)

“He slowly turned around. “What is love? In English.” I raised my brows. “Love, in English, is love?” “What is it in Spanish?” I was so enthralled by his hypnotic eyes, I could barely remember. “Amore?” He shook his head ever so slightly. “No. Love in Spanish is you.”

This was a first for me. As Karina crossed to the dark side and graces us all with a romance.

This was a book that I was dying to read. I followed the teasers religiously until the day it finally released. From which point I was hooked to my kindle until the very end.

So completely different to anything I have read before and completely compelling. Love, in English is a fire-cracker. Filled with angst and tension that reels you in from the start.

“Love is like a thief, it robs you of all thought and logic, and all you have left is a heart that you can only pray is strong enough to survive the rest.”

Vera Miles, a kickass chick with a badass name. She is exactly as she sounds. I LOVE her. It’s not hard to fall in love with characters that are so genuine and likeable. Not your typical leading lady and one that will be hard to get over. Covered in tattoos, fiery red hair and a 50’s pin-up dream (some might say ;)) that is how I see Vera.

“A gorgeous, sensual, Spanish god. That’s what he looked like to me.”

Then there is Mateo Casalles. *Swoon – Fans oneself*. From the moment he turns his head (imagine in slow motion) his thick hair swishing across his forehead. Deep eyes gazing straight into your soul. Then his mouth opens (a beautifully carved mouth – surrounded in a gentle grazing of facial hair) and out comes the sexy Spanish language. Damn. An unusual pair on sight but by far the most compelling an awe-inspiring couple I have read in a LONG time.

“Design your own universe, make your own stars, write your own stories, and create your own destiny.”

“You burn so brightly,” he said, his voice low and rough to raise the hair on my arms. “I would like to burn with you.”

I literally had butterflies 99% of the time, whilst reading this book. A beautiful story of love and how it is indeed the same in any language. Teaching us that you may find love in any part of the world. But whether or not you are strong enough to hold on to that love, is another matter. The story cleverly changes pace, in sync with this theme. The first half, is spent with our wonderful characters as they fall deeply in love with one another – against all odds and conscious thinking. In their very own Spanish bubble.

“Hope was a dangerous thing, I knew, but it didn’t stop your heart from latching on to it like a life raft.”

Okay, so the only way to describe the chemistry between these two, is like this. A state of foreplay. The tension builds and builds steadily, it floods you to your very core. Butterflies are sweeping your insides and you feel yourself falling deeper and deeper – against better judgement – and although you try to fight it – eventually you know that the heart will win out. The ending is inevitable because you just know you have to kiss this man. This beautiful man that gets you like no one before. Despite all obstacles out in the real world – that are stacked against you. Right now, you are in this bubble – just you and he and time on your side – for now. Everything is black and white, plain and simple. Chrystal clear. For now. For now – You want so badly to give in.

That is the power of Karina Halle’s writing. You really feel all of this. Every emotion is your own. The depth of her writing is over-powering. Completely soul-grabbing.

My heart split in two for these characters. Whom I adored immediately. From the dreamy world of pure love to the tough reality – is like a bucket of ice cold water being thrown over you.

You will find yourself always on edge with this story. Always at breaking point. But always living in the moment. And always waiting – waiting for heartache?

Absolutely gripping and enthralling. Totally takes over your mind and body. I can honestly say that it isn’t often that a story can reach in so far you feel it touch your soul. Your goddamn soul. It will turn you into a mess just as it did me! I was in shit deep with this book. Pure bliss. Exhilerating,. Powerful. Gahhhh!!!

Set in the beautiful city of Spain – this book truly takes you out of reality for a time and lifts you into this beautiful place where everything around you stands still for a moment as your sucked into the smells, sights and gorgeous people of this wonderful City – and I have never even been to Madrid. What a clever, clever lady.

Beautiful, hot and steamy sex scenes. I grew bored of these as of late – finding myself skipping the sordid scenes. So THANKYOU Karina for showing us how it is done *Sigh*

I could ramble for hours about this baby but I urge you to go pick it up. It wasn’t my intention to scare you off with my spillage of love for this story - exactly the opposite. I fell in love with Vera and Mateo’s story and I know you will too.

This story will enrapture you.

Beautiful, compelling, original

Fiery, awe – inspiring and captures your heart and imagination– 100% MUST READ

I'm off to dream of Spain, Vera and Mateo now because I just don't know what else to do now.

Easiest 5 stars given. These stars actually remind me of Vera.

Damn. Karina Halle -  What have you done to me? :)

My walk to Citywest Shopping Centre was a quick one and before I knew it, I was in Dunnes Stores walking around pushing a trolley. I took out the list Branna made and began picking up the items she wrote down. I added some cookies and other treats into the trolley, because it was that time of the month, and I needed them. I was bending down to get the triple chocolate cookies - best cookies ever - on the bottom shelf. I had to go down on my knees, because there were only two packets left, and they were at the very back. I got them though, and when I stood up and turned to toss them in my trolley I froze mid-step. "What the fuck are you doin' here?" I growled. Dominic Slater's smirking face morphed into a smiling one. "What do you think I'm doing in a grocery store? Taking a shower?" I pulled a face at him. "It's called a supermarket, you bloody eejit," I said coolly before moving towards my trolley. Dominic stepped in front of me, blocking my way. I blew out a big breath. "Move. Now!" "Why weren't you in school today?" he asked, ignoring my demand. He noticed I wasn't in today? Probably because he had no one else to bully since I wasn't there. "I'm sick," I said and tried to get around him once more. He blocked my way again by stepping to the same side as me at the same time. "You don't look sick," he commented. I glared at him. "Shows how much you know, doesn't it?" I growled. I hunched forward a little when pressure erupted across my lower abdomen and caused me immense pain. "Dominic, move out of me way!" "Are you going to puke?" he asked, still blocking my way. "Yeah, I'm goin' to puke, and I'm aimin' for you so move!" I warned. Dominic snorted. "Nah, you don't look like you will be sick. You're obviously having stomach pain though." "Thank you for that observation doctor Fuckface, now move!" I spat. Dominic laughed at me then glanced to my hands. "I'll happily move… when you give me those cookies." I cuddled the cookies to my chest as I would with a newly born infant. "No fuckin' way, I got them first!" Dominic rolled his eyes. "They are mostly likely the last triple chocolate cookies in the entire store since you had to get them from the very back of the shelf. If you want me to move, then you will give them to me." "They were the last two packets in the shop, but I'm not givin' you either of them, and if you don't move I'll scream rape and have you arrested!" I warned. He tipped his head back and laughed, so I took the opportunity and manoeuvred around him. I used one hand to hold the cookies to my chest and the other to grab my trolley. "Oh, no you don't!" When I felt hands come around my stomach from behind, I almost died. He was touching me! Dominic Slater had his hands on my stomach and had his body pressed into my back. Oh, my Jesus. Did this motherfucker have a death wish? "I'll give you three seconds to get your hands and body away from me, otherwise I will knock you the fuck out!" Dominic's chuckle in my ear made my body tense up even more than it already was. "You think you can take me, pretty girl?" Pretty girl? Was he trying to be funny or something? "I do!" I snapped then said, "Don't call me that again!" "I can call you what I like and say what I like to you, freedom of speech and all that." "You're so fuckin' stupid and a knob head… get off me!" I snapped then gasped when one of his arms came up and made a blatant grab for my cookies. No. Fucking. Way! I lifted my leg and kicked back against Dominic's shin; he grunted as he jumped back away from me. I whirled around and glared at him while he shook out his leg probably trying to shake the pain away. "You fucking bitch!" he hissed. I smiled at him. "That will be your balls if you ever touch me again. Have you not learned your lesson that touchin' me results in me hittin' you?" He rolled his eyes and rubbed his cheek as if still feeling the pain of the slap I delivered to him on Wednesday for touching my arse. He dropped his hands and grinned at me. "You have a phat ass, I couldn't help myself from having a feel." I gaped at him. He just called me fat. He actually just called me fat. I didn't care if I looked the size of a whale; you just didn't call a girl fat, especially to her fucking face. The insult hurt me, and I hated that. I wanted to hurt Dominic back so I threw the insult back at him even though he was nothing but trimmed muscle. "You are fat!" I snapped, turning and grabbing my trolley with one hand to push it away. Fuckface stopped me though. He wedged himself between me and my trolley. I didn't like it, not one bit. "I didn't call you fat." The dirty liar! I growled at him. "You did too, you lyin' sack of shite!" "I said you have a phat ass, there is a difference," he stated. What? "No there isn't, you said me arse is fat-" "Phat as in sexy," he purred. I stared at him, suppressing the urge to beat him to death with my cookies. "Fat is not sexy," I stated. "When you have a phat ass it is," Dominic said, still standing in front of me. "I don't mean fat as in fat, I just meant it as in good type of big, not an obese type of big. You have a big butt, and that is sexy." Why the fuck were we having this conversation about my fat but not fat arse? "I don't give a fuck. Me and me fat arse want to move on with our trolley so get outta the way." Dominic smirked and held out his hand and said, "Cookies first." I gripped the cookies tighter. "You will have to pry them from me cold, dead fingers, you lanky bastard." Dominic smirked and took a step towards me; I panicked and swung my arm catching him across the face with my hand. He actually stumbled to the side and out of my way as he gripped his face. I shot forward, grabbed my trolley, and all but sprinted up the aisle. "Bronagh!" he shouted. I turned and headed straight for a checkout till, more than ready to pay for the items and get home. People obviously heard Dominic shouting and were looking down the aisle where I just shot out from. I pretended to be confused as well; I didn't want anyone thinking I was the Bronagh that Dominic was shouting after. I jumped into a queue and began to unload my trolley items onto the conveyor belt, while mentally shouting at the woman in front of me to hurry up and pack her things. "I could have you arrested for assault, you know that right? That's twice you hit me back there." I sighed, knowing he purposely chose to come to this till just to piss me off. "It was self-defence, you put your hands on me first without permission," I spat as I nudged my trolley forward without looking around at him. "That's bullshit," Dominic snarled. I rolled my eyes. "Get over it, you big baby." I surged forward when the lady in front of me was finished, and thankfully, the woman serving me had my stuff scanned and helped me bag them in record time. "Those cookies are the nicest ones in the entire shop, they are always sold out." The woman smiled when she tucked them into a bag. I looked up at Dominic, who was glaring at me. It made me smile before I looked at the woman. "I agree, they are delicious." "Evil bitch," Dominic muttered, making the woman snap her head to him, and it caused me to snort a little. I paid the woman, grabbed the three carrier bags, and heaved them down. They were heavy, and I hated that Branna wasn't here with her car to help me bring them home. I sucked in a large breath and headed for the exit of the shop only to pause at the doors, almost whimpering right there and then. It was absolutely lashing rain outside. I didn't know why I was so surprised, it always happened. It could be mild and cool here in Dublin one minute then belting rain the next. I sighed and looked up at the sky after a full minute of just staring out at the rain. "You just can't cut me a break, can you, Jesus?" "I don't think he replies to people who assault innocents." I jumped at his voice, which he laughed at. I shook my head without looking at Dominic when he came to stand next to me. "How the hell did you pack your things and pay for them so quickly?" I questioned. "Magic," he replied. I rolled my eyes. "Well, use some magic and disappear from me presence." Dominic snorted. "You would love that, wouldn't you?" I looked at him, narrowed my eyes, and smiled. "I would love nothin' more than for you to disappear from the face of the earth, Fuckface." Dominic looked like he suddenly wanted to murder me so I stepped away from him. "No wonder you bought tampons, it must be that time of the month." He shook his head. He saw my tampons? Oh, God! I felt my face flush. "Shut the hell up!" He grinned at me. "You're seriously mean on your period." Oh, my God! Get me the hell out of here. "Well, this was horrible, I hope we don't run into each other here - or anywhere - ever again. Bad day to you, sir." I bowed my head and stepped out into the rain. I felt a chill run up my spine, so I straightened myself up, ignored the pain of the plastic bags digging into my fingers, and pushed on walking. "Do you want a ride?" I heard Dominic's voice shout from my far left. I gasped and spun in his direction, noticing that he was moving towards a large black Jeep. "You dirty bastard! How dare you ask me that!" I shouted. Dominic paused his stride and looked at me with his eyebrows raised before he laughed. "Crap, I meant a lift as in a lift home in my car. I didn't mean a ride as in the meaning of what a ride is over here… I'm not asking you to ride me, Bronagh." I felt myself flush. "Whatever, I don't need a lift!"

Ramblings....

we had a great opportunity to get on hand on this bad boy before everyone else. I must say the cover was super sexy and it instantly draw me in, wrap my hands around it and see if its equally hot inside.

well what can i say i certainly wasn't disappointed...its was super hot. Smoking at times... pff... Before signing up to the review, it came with a warning sign, which had the words dominate and possessive about this bad ass. He indeed was possessive and dominate but in a sweet kind of way...at times it was crazy madness but his only looking at what he treasure the most.

The story follows dominic, the all muscle, new playboy of the school. He finally found someone that doesn't fall at his feet and has her own attitude to return, Bronagh. Curiosity starts creeping in, finding why his one women can resist his charms, slowly it becomes mature but dominic just doesn't realise it just yet. He begins to notice her (they have the same classes) and to the extend of stalking her but whenever she gets into trouble he his just right behind her.

Of course, she think this rude bad ass annoying stalker, just want to get into her panties (well thats probably true) seems to be at every corner she turns but yet she doesn't seems to be able to get away from him, eventually her feelings grow but afraid to show it.

They both have a tempt of there own, at times i found Bronagh quite annoying, probably more stubborn and need to see the whole picture and there is times i think why Dominic is so attached to one people that is always doing the opposite he says. I suppose that what they say opposite attract.

The story develops into a intriguing line, not quite expecting what was in-store from Dominic and his brothers. It's about survive, love, revenge and family. Dominic and Bronagh's relationship isn't a easy path, its a bumpy road, with things thrown at them at each point.

You really do feel the love and possessive that Dominic has towards Bronagh..its a crazy mad love story.

Review ~ Sick Day by Morgan Parker

Hope and Cameron made a five-year promise before college. Years pass and they never see each other again. But then one month before his planned wedding to Riley, Cameron looks outside and sees Hope in the pouring rain, watching him.

Now, three years later, Cam has one day – a sick day on this last Friday of summer – to convince the one woman whose very existence breaths life into his lungs, that sometimes love like theirs actually does exist, and it’s that kind of love that lives forever, no matter how hard you fight to forget about it and move on.

From the author of non friction and Hope, Sick Day follows one man’s day-long attempt to persuade the love of his life that sometimes it’s okay to break promises if it means keeping the ones that count.

Excerpt . . .

“Don’t make me go home tonight,” I begged.
When her eyes found mine again, she nodded. I didn’t know what it meant, though. Was she nodding because I had to go home, or did she want me to stick around?
“Talk to me,” I begged.
“I can’t,” she whispered. “If I talk, I’ll lose everything I came here for.”
When I opened my mouth and started to speak, she placed a finger over my lips to silence me.
Leaning forward, she brought her mouth to my ear, and in a broken whisper, she asked, “Take me back to the hotel. Love me. Remember me. And then tell me whether or not you exist for me.”
“I don’t need to make love to you to know that, Hope. All I need is to take a breath of you.”
“Then breathe me, all of me,” she begged. “In my hotel room.”

Author Bio:

Morgan Parker is the pen name of the shy and introverted banker that wrote Non Friction, the novel that fans and readers voted as the #1 Funniest, Sexiest Book of 2014 at goodreads. When he's not writing, Morgan likes to do lots of fun stuff. Like sleep and eat. He jogs every day, usually to Starbucks for his daily fix at the end of his lunch hour.

Ramblings . . .

We were honoured to receive a copy of Sick Day in exchange for our honest opinion, so thank-you.

Morgan Parker has  ~ Goodreadsit, again. We read Non Friction and he smashed it, we read Hope and he won us over again . . . when we heard there was another story on the way, we said, fine bring it and boy did he BRING IT.

I am a big fan of Morgan Parker. I don’t know quite what it is but his stories are just something else. Real and gritty. Happy endings are not always possible and this is what Morgan brings us. The harsh truths. The up’s and downs of true romance, an unstoppable force that is inevitable but surely comes at the wrong time. Now, I know that may sound depressing BUT his stories are anything but.

The characters connect with the reader so we empathise with their every emotion but not too deeply that we are blind to reality. His characters aren’t dumb. They know and we know, you can’t always get what you want. It’s just not that simple sometimes.

There are some beautiful moments in Sick Day that squeezed at my heart. Words that will stick with you even after you have finished reading.

"Life without him was a silent film."

"I believe that if someone says he loves you more than air, he's lying to you."

“i believe that “love” is not about forgiveness, it’s about acceptance, and acceptance keeps relationships alive.”

I always say it but I love how Morgan’s stories intertwine. It works so wonderfully and it feels like catching up with old friends even if it is just a small snippet into other character’s lives.

“I wanted you to fight for me,” she said, her scowl stern enough that there was no misunderstanding as to which one of us dominated this conversation. “You said you’d fight for the rest of your life, that you’d always fight for me. For our love.” The bulging vein on her neck suggested anger. “But you didn’t.”

“i believe that in your heart, you have blood not love, and that blood is to the heart what ideas (not love) are to the mind.”

If you haven’t already then go catch up with the rest of his beautifully brutal love tales and grab yourself a copy of Sick Day.
