Booky Ramblings with ~ Jodi Ellen Malpas ~ SPOILER WARNING!!

This little British blog had the absolute honour of interviewing the one and only beautiful mind behind The Lord of the Manor and all things ish!

As the storm calms and before This Man hits our shelves in paperback, we made sure to ask all the questions we know you’re (and we’re) dying to know about!

Jodi Ellen Malpas!

BR: Did you ever expect This Man to take off like it did?

Jodi: Nope. I think that’s common knowledge. I’m still wondering what the hell is happening!

BR: You actually recently made a BBC news article when This Man Confessed took over Dan Brown’s sales on Amazon, how did that feel?

Jodi: It’s madness, isn’t it?! I’ve read all of Dan Brown’s novels and loved them. If you’d said to me that I’d top him in the charts, I would’ve laughed in your face. In fact, when my agent called and told me I’d topped Dan Brown on Amazon and hit #1 on The New York Times, I think I did laugh…then I cried like a baby and my mum ran to my house in her pyjamas to cuddle me.

BR: Do you remember the exact moment that our Lord of the Manor popped into your head? Tell us about it . . .

Jodi: He festered in my mind for a long long time - his story building in my head until it was all very clear to me. I practically lived the whole story in my head before finally settling down to bash it all out. It was like I needed to empty my brain of him.

BR: Thank goodness you did! Tell us something we don’t know about Jodi Ellen Malpas . . .

Jodi: I’m a qualified interior designer.

BR: Wow! Are you more alike to Ava than we know. If you are ever approached to turn This Man into a film/TV series, what would you say?

Jodi: Ha! What would I say? I’d say… “Give me front row seat on the casting couch and a bottle of oil, and it’s all yours!”

BR: Which hunky actor would you choose to take up the lucky role of Jesse Ward?

Jodi: I thought it was common knowledge that I’ll never share my muse. Or are you chancing your arm?!

BR: We tried =P *looks around the room innocently* Now, we are British ourselves so we totally got it but we know some were confused by the British slang in the trilogy, what would you say was the one word that you were asked to define the most?

Jodi: Jumper. Oh Lord, I received endless emails asking what a jumper was! That was the most queried, but there were many others. It still makes me smile. I recently wrote an article for The Huffington Post on British slang. When I wrote the books, it never cost me a thought that American readers might not understand the meaning of certain words, mainly because I didn’t expect to have an American audience. I’m so glad I have, though. I love their enthusiasm. They’ve really embraced me and my knickers.

BR: Indeed, women everywhere have fallen for The Lord and Lady. When you get the time, what kind of books could we expect to find you reading?

Jodi: I haven’t read for such a long time. It’s the one thing that has gone down the pan since this crazy ride began. As I’ve said above, I love Dan Brown. History really gets me, so the Da Vinci Code stayed with me for months.

BR: Quite different to your own creation. This Man is by far one of the sauciest trilogies we have read (and that’s saying a lot :P) so tell us, how on earth did you think up the idea of a Lord and his Sex Manor? (Thinks rowing machine and handcuffs)

Jodi: The Manor was a massive part of Jesse’s history, as you know. I loved the idea of a typical country estate in the typical English countryside, but with very untypical goings on, and an even more untypical Lord of The Manor. The story evolved perfectly in my mind.

BR: *Laughs* Pure genius! How ever did you come up with the rowing machine Jodi? (woman to woman of course)

Jodi: I’ve no idea where that came from. Slide and hit! I can’t look at them anymore.

BR: Well I'm sure plenty have looked at one with a curious eye since reading This Man trilogy *winks*. In your home town of Northampton, do your neighbours look at you the same way? :p

Jodi: My neighbours are elderly and very sweet. Don’t make me think like that!

BR: *Bites lip to stop laughter* Do you have dance moves like Jesse?

Jodi: Urm…Fanny and I are known for tearing up a dance floor or two.

BR: We bet you have! So are you too, obsessed with peanut butter?

Jodi: I can’t stand the stuff!

BR: Describe yourself in 3 words

Jodi: Independent, focused, people-pleaser.

BR: Are you sad the trilogy is over?

Jodi: Totally devastated, but with the paperbacks releasing soon, I kind of get to relive the excitement of release dates all over again. S’all good J

BR: Indeed! We can't wait to have This Man gracing our bookshelves! Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

Jodi: Yes, there is, even though they should all know by now how much they all mean to me. But, just in case and without sounding like a gushy idiot, my readers have been riding the This Man wave right along with me, enjoying the success, sharing in my excitement and continuously offering words of support and encouragement. I’ll never forget that. Me and my ladies are friends for life.

BR: We, along with millions of others, are DYING to know what is next for Jodi Ellen Malpas? Any secrets you can share?

Jodi: I have a dirty great big secret, but I’m not allowed to tell just yet. With the paperback releases on the horizon, I need to focus my attention on that. It’s killing me, trust me on that.

Thank-you for the honour Jodi. It's been awesome!

The Lord of the Manor ~ Jesse Ward ~ SPOILER WARNING!!

“Intense, hot-blooded and controlling”

“Gentle, affectionate and protective”

He will trample anyone who stops him from getting to Ava.

There is only one Jesse Ward.

We managed to sit The Lord of the Manor down for some questions at Booky Ramblings HQ! See for yourself . . .

Jesse Ward ~ The Lord of the Manor, we have been dying to get our hands on you. What a pleasure.

Jesse: Ava’s getting really good at trampling. You should know that before we continue. We had words before I came here.

BR: We will be on our best behaviour *winks* You have been known to be somewhat a crazy man (Holds hands up, I’m sorry) and others have described you as laidback. So tell us, how would you sum yourself up in 3 words?

Jesse: God. Lord. Lover. Adonis. Stunning. Firm. Lovable. Cheeky. Charming. Adorable. Charismatic. Magnetic. Handsome… Should I go on?

BR: Okay, Okay we asked for that. Now tell us 3 things you love about Mrs Ava Ward?

Jesse: Just three? Have you met her? Fuck me, that’s impossible. But if you’re going to ask stupid questions, then in 3 words, beautiful, spirited and patient, gorgeous, perfect, defiant, challenging, stunning, wonderful, loving… Stupid question.

BR: Yeah okay, 3 words was pushing it. How is life after The Manor?

Jesse: Fucking perfect – full of countdowns and my various degrees of fuckings…when the twins aren’t around.

BR: Do you ever miss the lifestyle of being The Lord of the Manor?

Jesse: I’m still The Lord. The lifestyle is a distant memory and one I’d rather not talk about, but I’m still my beautiful girl’s Lord or God or Adonis – whatever takes her fancy that day. It’s generally positive…except when she’s being a defiant little temptress.

BR: What’s your shoes size Jesse? (They say shoe size says a lot about a man *wink wink*)

Jesse: Twelve, and for any US ladies, that’s a UK 12, just to be clear. Judge for yourself.

BR: *Mouths drop* Moving on, Okay, how did it feel in that moment that Ava agreed to marry you?

Jesse: Shocked, given my tactics. But she’s a sensible girl.

BR: *Nods head in agreement* What is your favourite food? (You can’t say peanut butter)

Jesse: Then I’m not answering. Stupid fucking question.

BR: *Laughs* You sure do like your peanut butter. On another note, do you love lace in general or just on Ava? (Be gentle *wink*)

Jesse: Just on Ava, although it looks just as good on the floor once I’ve peeled it off…with my teeth. *adjusts groin* How many more questions?

BR: Hang in there. Where is your favourite place to be in the world? (With Ava of course)

Jesse: Anywhere no one can interrupt our constant contact. Is that it?

BR: Which 3 songs best describe the stages of your life with Mrs Ward?

Jesse: Fuck me! There’s just one track, and I think you know what that is. Next question.

BR: Now, we know you are quite the adventurous type *Smirking* tell us where are you yet to explore sexy time? (Flashbacks of the rowing machine)

Jesse: *Grins* Have you got a rowing machine? We must be done now.

BR: Not currently but I'm sure as hell looking into it! What is your guilty pleasure?

Jesse: Sun-Pat, you know that.

BR: Do you trample everyone to get what you want, or is that just where Mrs Ward is concerned?

Jesse: I’d never trampled a thing in my life before I met Ava. She makes me crazy. Trample? Where the fuck did that word come from? I’m good at it, though, aren’t I? Please tell me we’re done now.

BR: Nealry there. You have a habit of playing with your food *wink wink* can you give us any recommendations for the bedroom? (Besides an Ava éclair)

Jesse: Fucking hell, ladies, are you aiming for torture? You can’t have the Ava Éclair. That’s mine, but I know Ava highly recommends a peanut butter lollipop – a very BIG peanut butter lollipop. It’s the only way she’ll eat the stuff. Me? I’ll lick it off anything. I need to go and make friends with Ava.

BR: Okay, we will behave now, promise. How does it feel to have a family of your own? What emotions did you feel, holding your babies for the first time?

Jesse: *growls* I can’t fucking remember. All I remember was the pain Ava was in, and I didn’t touch the twins for hours because I’d lost all feeling in my hands from Ava scratching and biting me. It’s the first time she’s mistreated me and I didn’t enjoy it. It was the worst day and the best day of my life, all at once. I never want to see her go through that again. Tell me we’re done.

BR: Ok you're doing good so finally, (Jesse: Thank fucking God!) can you share any secrets with us? (promise we won’t tell)

Jesse: No, you’ve squeezed me for too much information already and I have three beautiful people waiting for me at the park with a picnic. Sorry, ladies, but if I don’t get there soon, my boy will have munched his way through all of my Sun-Pat or my little lady will have hidden it. And I need to makes friends with my wife.

Jesse, it’s been crazy! We were delighted to have this opportunity with you. I honestly didn’t  think we would make it through (we were too excited, no ish about it).

Thank-you for popping in to Booky Ramblings HQ

One night. One song. One kiss. The perfect trifecta to unleash the floodgates of a forbidden attraction between the widow and her husband’s bad boy cousin, Adrian.
Celeste endeavors to rebury the feelings that surface after this one night since her powerful family despises him. Kindred spirits, best of friends they attempt to douse their attraction; however, Adrian always seems to know exactly how to push her buttons and may prove too much to resist.
Having defied his family by making his way on his own terms, Adrian struggles to regain their acceptance. When he meets his cousin’s wife and wants her for his own, he feels he’s finally lived down to the title—black sheep. But, when his cousin dies unexpectedly, Adrian fights his attraction and swears to honor them both by helping her raise her boys.
Finding himself enveloped in a cocoon of love and acceptance, Adrian knows it’s more than just physical attraction. However, unforeseen events threaten to destroy those he now holds dear and his newfound peace.
Will the ties that bind them be their undoing?

Ramblings...

Wow, wow, wow. A beautiful, entrancing and perfectly written book.
From the first page, I was gripped. What starts as an angsty, heat-fuelled hoover that just sucks you right in and keeps you on the edge of your toes, turns into something beautiful as it moves along.

There are few books that you find and as you’re reading you find yourself in awe at how well-written it is. The story moves along so fluidly and everything falls perfectly into place. You find yourself wondering how an author can work such magic and have the story an still feel so real and engaging at the same time. Have you ever felt that way about a book? That’s how Lynetta made me feel.

The characters are easy to fall for. I don’t even know where to begin here. Celeste is head-strong and fearless. Despite her over-bearing family trying to squash any of her on desires, she remains determined to stay true to herself and her boys. Her boys, Archer, Finn and Paris bring are so cute and funny. Adrian is so good to them. Always treating them with a level of love and respect as if they are his own children.

The relationship they share is somewhat antagonising. It all starts with a steamy kiss that left ME gasping for air. The stolen moments they share from there on are hot. I just wanted them to get it on already but I’m so glad they waited because they share such a beautiful relationship. Pure, honest and warm. They are so connected. It also makes for a great climax when they finally do jump bones.

You are absolute fucking perfection. Made for me, babe. Made for my lips”

“I love you,Celeste. Like crazy love, like I can’t sit across the room from you and watch you without wanting to be a part of what you're doing"

I love everything about this book. It's refreshing to read a love story that is different.. It isn't just a tale of Adrian and Celeste's love. It's also about the love they share with the three boys. Lynetta has achieved a story that is not only angst and hot but it's also heart-warming and endearing.

If you love someone enough, you'll do anything to protect, guard and cherish them no matter what
you'll always be there for them.

I was seriously sucked into this bad boy. I
 wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

A bit about the author Lynetta Halat

For as long as she can remember, Lynetta Halat has lived to read and has written countless stories and plays since she was a young girl. A teacher by day and an avid reader and closet writer by night, she has always dreamt of penning books that people could connect with and remember; and her first novel, Every Rose, was the perfect catalyst to launch her into the world of publishing. Her love of the English language prompted her to attain her master's degree in English from Old Dominion University in Virginia. A self-proclaimed "Coast Girl," she lives in Mississippi with her adorable husband, two amazing sons, and two lovable dogs. She is currently at work on her third book.

Excerpt:

I consider exactly how truthful I should be with him. He was so truthful with me. I owe him that much, don't I? "Adrian, I don't need time apart. You're my friend and you're amazing with the boys. They love you. I would never deny them your presence. I just...I just need us to get back to normal as quickly as possible. I...I am attracted to you. I have been for a while. But that's all it is—a physical attraction." On these words, I see his eyes narrow ever so slightly. I turn my head quickly and vow, "I promise to control myself, though." I allow my eyes to find his again. "I don't want to lose you either."
He studies me for a minute. Just as I find myself about to squirm under his intense gaze, he releases me. "OK, Celeste, that settles that. Back to normal. We'll both behave. This physical thing between us will pass. No harm, no foul. Right?"
"Right," I say on a smile.
Standing up, he turns to go back to his mowing; but then he spins around and comes back to tower over me. My head flies up, my gaze searching. I open my mouth to ask him what's wrong, but he beats me once again.
"Celeste, just so you know," he says as he tilts my chin back further and runs his calloused fingertips up my cheek to tuck a strand of errant hair behind my ear. His hand curls itself along my jaw. "That kiss...that kiss was exceptional, and I'll never forget it. As I stand here and as long as I live, it was the best I've ever had, the best I could ever have."
Since my heart has lodged itself firmly in my throat, he's gone before I can speak or even form a coherent thought for that matter. Slowly, I shake my head at his retreating back. We'll never get back to normal if he keeps touching me and talking to me like that.

This Man Trilogy

This Man (This Man, #1)
Young interior designer Ava O’Shea has an appointment for a first consultation at The Manor with the owner, Mr Jesse Ward. She is expecting nothing more than an overweight, cravat wearing, well-to-do countryman, and on arrival, nothing would suggest otherwise. How wrong could she be? This Man is devastatingly handsome, charming and confident. He is also a conceited, hedonistic playboy, who knows no boundaries. Ava desperately does not want to be attracted to him, but she can’t control the overwhelming affect he has on her. Every instinct is telling her to run, so she does, but Jesse Ward is not so willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her. She knows she is heading for heartbreak, but how can she run when he won’t let her?

Beneath This Man (This Man, #2)She knew she was heading towards disaster. Every instinct told her to run, but Jesse Ward was a hard man to escape.

It has been five days’ since Ava O’Shea left Jesse drunk and raging at Lusso – left behind a man who drowned her in his intensity and blindsided her with his touch. Getting over this man was never going to be easy. And now he’s back in her life.

She has questions she needs answering, but her determination to get these answers will give the pleasure-seeking playboy the power to destroy her again. She needs to keep her eyes wide open and caution at the forefront of her mind, an ambitious intention when Jesse Ward is within touching distance. And he plans to be.

This Man Confessed (This Man, #3)He’s dark, he’s broken – Ava knows this, but the only way to find out how dark and how broken is to get beneath the steely exterior of this man.

The Manor, the very place where their passionate love affair began, fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse's lives. She has accepted that she'll never tame the fierceness in Jesse-and she doesn't want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she's finally gotten beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise, leading Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy . . . but will he also drive her to the brink of despair? It's time for this man to confess.
