Fab Five for the weekend!

Review ~ Wethering The Storm by Samantha Towle

Where to begin, where to begin? Ahhh . . . AWESOME SEQUEL – YOU NEED TO BUY. That ought’a do it!

Seriously though, wow. I’m a HUGE fan of Jake and Tru and have been waiting in desperate anticipation for Jake to jump back into my hands again. I fell head over heels for the sexy couple in TMS so to say the sequel had big boots to fill is an understatement. So did the boots fit?

Abso-fuckin-lutely! I mean, DAMN. I had a Storm marathon and decided to re-read The Mighty Storm, going right on in to Wethering the Storm after-wards.

“Taking my hand, he rests it over his T-shirt, over his heart. “You hold this in the palm of your hand. You are the only woman who has ever had it, and ever will. You own me, Tru.”
WTS differs wildly from TMS in pace of the story during the first half. The story pretty much picks up right where it left off so we are thrown into the full throng of our happy, loved up couple floating along on a very sexy cloud 9. They are literally leading the perfect, blissful life (whilst f**king like rabbits) - which gets hotter and hotter each and every time, I might add.

“I don’t know who moves first, but suddenly we’re kissing, like we’ve never kissed before. it’s desperate. No tenderness. This is hard, starved-for-each-other kissing.”

“Do you remember what I said that first night we moved into our new house? What you asked me to say as my vows? It still stands Tru, it will always stand. My love for you is limitless, it knows no bounds. You're in my veins. I bleed you. I belong to you...I always have and I always will. You will always be my June, Tru.”
Everything falls right into place and we get caught up in the whole shebang – There was times when I was grinning like an idiot and doing my giddy dance as I read, then quickly checking to make sure no-one was looking. This book WILL have you acting like a fool and loving every minute of it! There are some real, heart-squeezy moments, some crazy ups and downs  but ultimately it’s the raw, un-adulterated passion that you will feel seeping from the pages of this book – that will give you a mega case of the warm-an-fuzzies. TMS also brings real life situations to light, ones that readers can easily relate to.

Just like TMS, when I wasn’t reading this book, I was at work thinking about it. Jake and Tru were ALWAYS on my mind (and yes, I know they are fictional L) BUT that’s probably for the best because my obsession would get out of hand. I just LOVE Tru! It’s not often at-all for me to say that about a female lead but Tru is the epitome of AWESOME. She has sass, she has fiest, she is damn sexy and some-what a minx. Not to mention her impeccable fashion sense (Girl, I want tips) and rad taste in music, right?! I’ve stood by that since I first met her in TMS.

"When you're in the room, sweetheart, I don't see anyone but you"

Of course, Jake Wethers. The hottie that knows it. I’m a sucker for a dude rocking tatt’s. A dude rocking tatt’s that plays guitar and sings in a rock band that has a huge penis (ba-ha) and a huge heart to go with it. Well, damn, that’s the perfect man right there. A moment that has always stuck in my mind is from TMS, when he is playing Wicked Game acoustically, unaware Tru is watching. I always see Jake when I hear this song (which I loved before and now WOW).

“Look, I have a huge penis," he states.”
“You’re hard?” I smile. “Well, you’re hot,” he says with a shrug.”

WTS is written in both POV’s which I just adored. We finally get inside that dirty head of Jake’s and I’ve got to tell you, you wouldn’t even know a chick wrote it! Towle, you are GOOD! However, we find Jake is actually quite the sweety. Yep major *sigh* moments coming up.

"I'm not losing you, ever. I know I fuck up regularly, but I can't fuck us up"

So, where I said the first half is Sexy Cloud 9. The second half, is like slamming on the breaks in a car and face-planting the seat ahead. Prepare to have your heart trampled and have the tissues at the ready. But don’t worry, everything is tied up in a cute little bow and a couple of weddings (and who doesn’t love a wedding)

WARNING: This book will give you the warm and fuzzies, wet panties, idiot face-itis, goosebumps, you will cry like a baby and laugh like a maniac and you WILL fall in love all over again.

ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC!

A bit about the Author: Jani Kay

Jani has been married for a long time to a special man, and her two children and their partners are the sunshine in her life. She is a voracious reader and would spend her last dollar on a book - always fascinated that for the mere price of a book, she can escape her world for a while and see through someone else's eyes.

Besides reading, her favorite 'thing' is traveling - she has traveled the world, learning about the ways people live and has come to the realization that no matter where we live, we all ultimately want the same things. Her hobby - Scrapbooking - keeps her up till way after midnight and her usual subjects are her family and her travels.
Ever since she can remember, Jani wanted to write stories about people, about their lives and loves. Relationships and Happiness - arguably the most difficult things to master in life and yet exactly what everyone ultimately desires (in her humble opinion).

What is it that you enjoy about writing fiction?

When I write I go into a different world. It is the purest form of escape. Time stands still. All my senses are engaged. I am fully alive, but in an alternative universe. It is a feeling unlike any other. Addictive. I love peeling back the layers and discovering all that is hidden beneath the surface of the book characters. I want to keep digging till I get to the very core of them – of what makes them tick, their inner desires, their conflicts and fears - searching into their very soul. I am an observer of people and their behaviours; you will always find me in the back corner of a café, sipping a latte, watching people, imagining what goes on in their lives.

When did you first know you wanted to become a writer?

My childhood dream was to be a writer - I wrote elaborate stories with well-developed plots and characters. I told my younger brothers stories I made up as I went, every night before bed. I have a VERY active imagination... My writing style is the same – I am what is known as a ‘pantser’ - weaving stories by the seat of my pants, making it up as I go, letting the characters speak for themselves. I merely record the story they show me in a movie in my head.
As a teenager I spent school vacations reading. I would start a book in the morning and only close my eyes when done at around 3 am, sleep a bit, wake and start the next book... I have always been a voracious reader...
I would spend my last dollar on a book. Reading gives insight into another human being’s thoughts, expands your mind - all for the small price of a book – often less than the cost of a coffee. Amazing!

What made you write your first book?
Fear of failure is the biggest stumbling block to realising our dreams. All my life up until last year, I waited, thinking I had to write something really profound. Then one day I had an AHA moment - I realised I didn’t need to, I could simply write what I enjoyed and connected with - steamy adult romance... seems there are an awful lot of people who like reading it...
I realised that time is fleeting, that I had do it NOW - not waiting any longer to realise my dreams. I had to open my eyes to the possibilities. I didn’t want to die with regrets of never having the courage to follow my passion of writing.

Tell us about ‘Open Your Eyes’ – your début novel.
I started writing Open Your Eyes in the air, flying between Australia and New York in January 2013. It's a very long flight…
I’d just been to New York for New Year – to see the ball drop in Times Square with my daughter – something on our ‘bucket list’. So a big part of the story plays off in New York. In Natalie believes in second chances in spite of her demons. Separated from domineering Gabriel – whose cruel and jealous ways hurt her deeply – she still hopes for reconciliation for her family’s sake.
However, her world is turned upside down when she unexpectedly meets a charming, seductive bachelor – the famous photographer Nicholas Gallagher - who awakens her latent desires and sweeps her off her feet in a delicious holiday romance.
Just as Natalie starts falling for Nick, Fate steps in. Caught up in a heart wrenching love triangle, she is forced to make a difficult choice. Gabriel is her first love, the man whose name and children she bears. Nick truly sees her, deep into her soul. Both men want her. Who will she choose? Because above all, Natalie wants a second chance at love and happiness.
So one of the issues we explore in ‘Open Your Eyes’ is how she deals with her search for her true soul mate. Is it ever too late; are we ever too old to stop yearning for that special connection?
Why is ‘Open Your Eyes’ based on mature adults?
As a voracious ‘more mature’ reader, I have read a lot of contemporary romances, particularly all the latest best-selling romances. And although I enjoyed reading them, I sometimes couldn’t quite connect as much with the very young heroines. I wanted to read about someone I could identify with myself, a heroine who had a bit of life experience, who had been through ups and downs over a few decades of life.
Natalie is forty, experienced and mature, but she still has a LOT of living left in her. So we follow her journey in ‘Open Your Eyes’. And yes, sex is still very hot and steamy at that age!! Probably even better, as she is in the prime of her life...

Blog Tour ~ Arsen by Mia Asher

One glance was all it took…

I'm a cheater.
I'm a liar.
My whole life is a mess.

I love a man.
No, I love two men…
I think.

One makes love to me. The other sets me on fire.
One is my rock. The other is my kryptonite.

I'm broken, lost, and disgusted with myself.

But I can't stop. This is my story.
My broken love story.

EXCERPTS:

Excerpt one:

I need to feel him inside me.
I need Arsen to burn me to ashes with the fire roaring inside his blue eyes.
I need to kiss him.
So I do.
When our lips meet, it’s not a tender moment. It’s fierce.
Passionate.
Cannibalistic.
Teeth clashing... Hair pulling… Like this is the last kiss we will ever taste.
Arsen breaks away first, breathing heavily, color coating his cheeks. “Let’s get out of here.”
Silent for a moment, I let myself drink in his beauty. The color of his eyes, his strong jaw, the golden stubble adorning his face, his full lips…
I’m not naïve. I’m aware that if I leave with him right now, we’re going to do more than just hold hands.
We are going to fuck.

Excerpt two: (steamy)

Opening my legs with his hands, he enters me slowly, taking his time, making the moment last. When he’s all the way in, he pauses as we stare at each other, both of us breathing heavily. Slowly, he brings a hand to caress my naked shoulder. “I’ve wanted to do this since the moment I kissed you on the street.”

“Have sex with me?” I ask.

“No.” He bites my lower lip. “Make you mine.”

This time he makes love to me. There is no roughness in his treatment of my body, and I don’t miss it. This feels as if he is telling me with his body what he cannot voice yet. This feels like we are imprinting each other to our bodies and to our hearts. Moaning, I grab the back of his neck and pull him down for a kiss, getting lost in the moment.

Blog Tour -Alexandria Rhodes - More Than You Know

After surviving a devastating car accident that took her father's life, Bryn Woods feels like she has nothing left in her hometown of Savannah, GA. Along with losing her father, her boyfriend, Tyler, unexpectedly leaves town the same time of the accident. Feeling alone, broken and confused, Bryn leaves Savannah for college in New York City to escape her heartbreak.

Four years later, Bryn returns to Savannah to live in her childhood home. Slowly, she begins to let the people of her past back into her life. She lets the protective walls she's built to protect herself crash down around her. As she begins to find love again with Tyler, secrets start to unravel themselves about his past. Tyler has secrets of his own. Secrets connected to the death of Bryn's father. Secrets Tyler didn't even know he kept.

Ramblings . . .

This is the debut novel by Alexandria. A second-chance love story. When life hands you shit, running is sometimes the only option. Will love find a way back into your heart?

Bryn suffers loss and heartache in the worst form. We read as she decides to return to her past and deal with her demons for once and for all. The last thing she expects is to find Tyler has also returned.

Tyler, once the love of her life, the man who promised her a future, then just as easily took it away. Leaving her all alone in the toughest time of her life.

This is a quick and easy read. I finished within 2 days : p. It’s really nicely written.

“I love you times infinity.”

I didn’t totally fall for the characters. I liked them but I feel maybe there could have been a little more depth and character build-up. There is an obvious connection between Bryn and Tyler but it isn’t over-powering. I feel that Bryn maybe should have questioned Tyler and Charlottes (Tyler’s sister) disappearance more than she did. I guess too much time had passed between them and their love for one another one out.

"It’s the kind that hurts so good, right? Almost like you can’t breathe without the other person and the only thing that keeps you sane throughout the day is knowing that you’ll see that person soon enough. Nothing can come between you and that person. You would do anything for them. Be anyone they need you to be. Without thinking twice, you know you will be there, no matter what. That’s what loving you is to me."

There is no epic drama in this book and I think that’s nice when you just want to chill with a book that's not filled with angst. Overall, a nice, easy love story with a sweet HEA.

I look forward to seeing what Alexandria writes for us next . . . in fact we have the synopsis right here! Check out the interview.

About Alexandria Rhodes . . .

Alexandria Rhodes is a first time novelist from the good old state of Ohio. She is a recent college graduate with a degree in English and Creative Writing. Alexandria has always known she needed to write and has been doing so ever since she bought a typewriter at a garage sale when she was nine. With hundreds of pages of plot ideas, scripts and character descriptions, it is no surprise that she finally came around to writing a book.
Alexandria enjoys reading, writing, reviewing, spending time with family, tweeting (a little too much) and traveling, especially to Savannah, GA and New York City.
Her writing is heavily influenced by her surroundings and the people in her life. She hopes that her stories will touch the hearts of her readers.

Interview with Alexandria . . .

1.     This is your debut novel, when did you first decide to become a writer?
I’ve always loved writing. When I published this novel, a friend of mine said “Your dream came true!” She was right, it’s been a dream to share a story I can call mine : )
2.     Do you believe in second-chance love?
I do. I hope it comes through in my book to my readers. A part of me has always wondered what it would be like to have a second chance with the love of your life. As long as they didn’t hurt you, LOL.
3.     Did you have an influence when creating your characters?
Bryn is kind of like me, in a way. Honestly, Savannah, GA inspired so much in this book. The feeling I get when I’m there, I tried to bring the magic through the pages.
4.     What is your favourite book right now?
Losing it by Cora Carmack is awesome so far!
5.     If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you choose?
Emma Watson! I love her acting abilities and she seems so normal!
6.     Reading or writing?
This is a really good question! Writing is similar to reading. I get lost just as much in a manuscript that I do when reading a book. I do enjoy curling up with a good book though : )
7.     The beach and fair plays a strong back-drop for More Than You Know, are beach days personally something you like to do? Did you grow up near a beach?
I didn’t but the beach and fair have always been a big thing in my life. I’ve always loved the beach...especially Tybee Island. For the fair, we go to the lake every summer and they have a HUGED ferris wheel that looks out on the lake. I’ve always found them romantic in a way, but I’m too scared, every year, to ride it!
8.     Do you have a role model in the writing world?
I had an English teacher in High School that I really looked up to. She encouraged writing and was critical enough that she pushed me to be a better writer.
9.     Music often plays a big part in books these days, in More Than You Know, film was a big theme. What is your all-time favourite movie?
Oh, wow. All time favourite. I think I’d have to say The Last Song. That movie inspired my love and pretty much obsession with Savannah. After seeing it, I wanted to visit it so bad. We went on a family vacation and the characters and scenes came alive! So I thank that movie for showing me such a beautiful, magical place.
10.  What is next for Alexandria Rhodes? Can you share any secrets with us? ;)
I am so excited, actually, for what is next! I just finished up my second novel, Like Crazy. I’m planning on making it into a three book series. It’s much different than More Than You Know. Here’s the synopsis for you!
Like Crazy:
Life is all about moments. Moments that can break you; moments that can save you.

On the outside, Emma Matthews seems to have it all. Celebrity status, a sexy new movie and an apartment in Chicago one can only dream of. Despite the rumors of her dating the lead male, Kyle Edwards, in their new movie Sway, Emma is indeed single. When she receives an invitation for her sister’s wedding, Emma knows without a date, she’ll never live it down. Unable to just pick anyone, Emma enlists her publicist and lifeline, Kate, to find someone for her.

Bartender Will Roberts is Ryan Gosling perfection who is looking for a shakeup in his life. When Kate, or Katie, he can’t remember, comes into his bar and asks for a favor for a client of hers, Will finds himself incapable of saying no. Little does he know, he just signed up to play the role of his ex-girlfriend’s fake boyfriend. He’s the one that got away; the one Emma chose acting over seven years ago. Given a second chance, Emma and Will decide to move forward together, only finding themselves rekindling a love that never ended. Their lives together are perfect and full of bliss even after Emma's sister's wedding. Everything changes when Emma receives a role of a lifetime for a movie filming in Australia. Faced with the same decision she had to make many years ago, the couple finds themselves in a familiar déjà vu situation where Emma is asked one last time to choose.
