Blog Tour - Serendipity - Review and Giveaway!!

The saying goes that there is a fine line between love and hate...but what happens when the line becomes blurred?

When life hands Phoebe Andrews her dream job, she’s ecstatic. That is, until she realizes that in order to pursue her dream she’ll have to give up her cosmopolitan lifestyle in Chicago and move to Nashville. As if leaving all she knows behind wasn't enough, a car accident on her first day in town does nothing to convince the city girl that country living is all it’s cracked up to be.

As an only child, Dean Montgomery has obligations—obligations which have left him angry at the world. Just as his monotone life has begun to leave him jaded, he is brought back to earth with a bang...literally.

Fate conspires to bring the city girl and the country boy together, but can Dean stay out of trouble long enough for the pair to test the boundaries of their tempestuous relationship?

Ramblings....

"Cowboys and Angels by Dustin Lynch. That's us - I'm her cowboy and she's my Angel"

Wow...I've read this book in a day and that's gotta say something! The First thing that comes to my mind is that I can't get Dirty Dancing -'I'm having the time of my life' out of my head after finishing this lovely book. Yes...literally I'm listening and singing to it as I'm writing this review..You all know its a classic and you'll be the same as me after reading this!

I must say it is the ultimate summer love story to read! Its got it all love, family, boys meets girl, heartbreak, second chances and of course DIRTY DANCING haha... Anyway back to the main story... Its a really cute love story almost like a fairytale. Two people meets by fate unexpectedly and was unlikely to ever fall in love but as we believe everything is possible.

"She's my baby, my angel, my barbie - My Everything"

Phoebe Andrews, the independent city girl moving to Nashville for her new job. Starting everything from fresh and everything is under control until her first day in the new city. Her course takes a turn, she crash into Dean...Yep literally crash into his truck. This is where the their story begins.

Dean Montgomery, the farmer of his family's farm. The cowboy doesn't have time for love, he's fully committed into running the family business but when Phoebe enter his life it all goes out of routine. He's not sure to hate her or love her, he just know he can't stop thinking about her.

"I hate to break it to you darlin' but i'm not Jesus, though most women call me God when i'm fucking them"

However, they both don't believe in love and commitments. Phoebe even has three rules when it comes down to it, 1) Only pursue men above thirty 2) Only go home with a man that isn't expecting more and 3) Never stay overnight. and Dean just doesn't do more. Will they both break the rules? Will they admit their feelings and will they follow the heart?

Being force to live under the same roof because of the accident, the banter between the characters is funny, it really brings out the chemistry between the two. With a hate and love relationship and getting on each others nerves but once you spend more time with each other your'll see more than just the devil's horns.

This book also shows second chances is worth giving and promises are important to keep. Sometimes you can't just be friends, it might just lead to something special. It could be the time of your life! (Sorry couldn't help it ha!) really enjoyable.

Sweet Loving Summer Fairytale

The High Arc: Revitalized

The High Arc – Revitalized
By

Alexa, who spent the last 2 years of her life suffering from a crippling disease, is cured by a potion her grandmother leaves behind before abandoning her. She then finds out her family is descendants of a Vampire race, from Lacal who she inexplicably drawn to whenever he is near. It’s Lacal's job to retrieve Alexa & bring her back to accept her new life. Will she run away from their bond or will she return with him & accept her title as Vampire Queen?

Ramblings....
Well, what can i say. Its an interesting fantasy with a hidden mystery. This is going to be a nice series for readers who like fantasy. It's hard to say what genre this is because there was a lot of elements within the story. Vampires, aliens, potion and portals. I was unsure what direction the book was going to take.

The beginning of the story was quite slow approaching but it builds up the pilot for the story, once the knight in shining armor appeared the story comes to a turn. Alexa was born with a hidden secret that she didn't know, she just thought she had a series of misfortune happening to her until she meets Lacal. He came with a secret mission. The story basically follows Alexa on a path of self-discovery in the most extreme case possible.

Do you believe in love in first sight? Well for Alexa and Lacal it definitely was. Their heart and soul is connected , they can feel each other anywhere, they have a connections like a strong electric current every time they together. The unexpected twist made it curious to what was happening. The ending is definitely a cliffhanger, making you think, no whats happening, it was getting interesting. Even though the author gave us a cheeky chapter to the next book it was still a waiting and guessing game. Awakening towards the end.

If you like fantasy and a curious mind then this is the book for you!

Our exclusive interview with Jessica Cage!

Jessica, lovely to meet you. We’re honoured to have you.

Just to start off, can you tell us a little bit about your previous books?
Previously I have written a short story series entitled Hybrid’s Tale which is still in the process of coming to completion. The first three are available on Kindle and will eventually come to a printed version as well. I love the story, it is a nice twist on the take of the vampire, werewolf, hybrid, story. I tend to like to give a different take on things, in my mind everything can be twisted and turned to create something new. Also I have a novella out which is entitled Let Me Protect You. Currently available on Kindle and will be available in print in the coming week! It is a story of love, and betrayal. I strayed away from the paranormal aspect, which is something I tend to do.  I love the story. It is something I originally wrote while in the 8th grade. Over the years it grew right along with me and I am proud to share it with the world.

The High Arc, Revitalized is out real soon, right?
Yes it’s release date is July 19th, right around the corner!

What influenced you to become a writer?
My son. In some sense I have always been a writer. I spent countless hours journaling as a young girl, but I didn’t decide that it was something I wanted to attempt to share with the world until after I found out about my pregnancy. I wanted to lead by example. When I tell my son to chase his dreams, he will feel more capable of doing so because I have done it as well. Regardless of the outcome, I can say I tried, I put in all my effort and hopefully he will do the same.

On another note, what was the last book you read?
Otherworldly Prophecies written by Natasha Wetzel. She is an indie author and I loved the story. Currently I am reading Empyreal Illusions written by Jake Bonsignore, also an indie author. Lately I have been diving into those indie books more and more, love experiencing something new and fresh. Besides I am an indie author so I have to show support for those who are in the trenches with me.

If you could be any character from a book, who would you be and why?
I would be Claire Danvers from the Morganville Vampires series. I just love her strength and determination, as well as her brains. I feel like she is one of those all around female characters that girls need. She doesn’t just wait for the guys to come save her, she gets down and dirty and gets the job done. She also gets to live with two smoking hot guys!

So, we know that you write Paranormal Fiction, what inspires your supernatural ideas?
I tend to min in Sci-fi with my writings as well as suspense and mystery. I accredit this to Sci-fi Saturdays with my mother and all the old mystery novels my grandmother would let me read. I would steal away with one and get lost in the pages. I feel like my works all incorporate a bit of  bit of suspense as well as (in most cases) the sci-fi/paranormal twist.

Do you have a favourite playlist that inspires your writing? Name a few songs
I cannot say that I do. Stand-up comedy is my inspiration while writing. (Yes, it’s a bit weird.) Comics like Bill Burr, Gary Owen, Whitney Cummings or Jake Johannsen are usually playing in the background of my life. Thank the heavens for Netflix!

When you’re not writing, how do you like to spend your time?
Either being extremely active or extremely lazy. Whichever one I feel like I missed out on the most. Outside of that I like to take a chance to explore other mediums of art, spend time with my family, and catch up on reading.

What has been your favourite project so far?
So far it has been The High Arc. It has grown so much since I originally began it and I am just extremely excited to get it out into the world and share it with as many people as possible. The story means so much to me and because of it, I have made some amazing new friends and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Can you give us any sneaky hints about what’s next for Jessica Cage?
Well I recently signed on with a publicist who will be hopefully booking some awesome events for me. Revitalized is slated to be in 6 stores and I am gearing up for my first major book signing at Barnes & Noble! Currently I am laying out the plans for Syrinada, the series about the daughter of a siren and a warlock which I will be publishing after the completion of The High Arc Trilogy.

Thank you Jessica, you have been wonderful, and we have been Booky Ramblings

Scarlett Jade Interview

We had the absolute honour of having a chin-wag with a friend of BR and what an awesome chick she is. We love her just as much as her books.

Scarlett Jade everyone

Were you any good at English in School?
Absolutely. It was my favorite subject. :) I was always Teacher's Pet. I was a pain in school. Think Hermione... That was me.

When did you realise you wanted to become a writer
I started writing a horrible story with a friend when I was ten. I ended up doing all the work. Everyone died in the story and I remember loving how I could warp reality in my little story and make things happen. I had always loved to read and this just made reading come alive in a different way for me.

What is your all-time favourite book?
My absolute favorite book is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd... Or maybe Matilda by Roald Dahl.

If you could be a character from a book, who would you be? Why?
I would be Lily Owens, from the Secret Life of Bees. I grew up in an abusive home like she did, and she left. She had a new life with people who loved her. I ended up doing the same, just much later in life than she did.

Who/what was the influence behind Beautiful Downfall?
The influence for Beautiful Downfall came from a book that literally fell on my foot at the library. It was so weird but I took the book home and read it anyway. It was a book about Angels and Saints. I read through pieces of it and had a dream about an angel who helped a young woman who was helplessly lost. Thus, Beautiful Downfall was born.

What soundtrack would you place with Beautiful Downfall?
Hmm... This is a tough question. One song I listened to on repeat while I wrote was “Apologies” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. I also listened to quite a bit of “One Headlight” by the Wallflowers, “All I Wanted”  and “My Heart” by Paramore. I also loved the song “This is the Day” by Courtney Jaye, which is nearly impossible to find. It's perfect for the story.
“There's still a little sand inside of my shoes
I leave it there to keep me close to you
There's a whole other world inside me now
Full of words you can't hear
But the power of how I really feel
Is pulling you near
Its a vibration
There's no separation
We're one and the same
I don't have to be afraid
If you feel it
You might as well reveal it
Cause this is the day
Tomorrow could all be taken away
I can see the sun without the sky
But I can't see myself without your eyes” -Courtney Jaye “This is the Day”

See? Perfection.

What are you working on now?
I am working on three books. Just finishing up September Tango, I have the final part of the Just a Little Taste trilogy in the works, it will hopefully be out by Labor Day, and another little work that should be a lot of fun to write. It features a plus sized burlesque dancer. I wanted to write something sexy and empowering to women.

In 3 words, what can we expect from your upcoming book, September Tango?
Love, Hope, Faith, not to be too cliché. Love that is powerful and fast, like a summer storm, hope in the future, and faith that things will work out, even if it seems impossible.

Will it be a trilogy?
This book currently is a stand alone. My husband and I have talked about some ways it could be turned into a two part series, but at this time, we aren't sure if we will. Absolutely depends on the demand for more Calvin and Zoe!

What made you decide to collaborate with your husband, Llerxt the 13th?
He is a fantastic writer and I knew if anyone would get me, he would. He's my best friend and my biggest supporter and fan.

Is it easy to write a book with your hubby?
Yes! We work fantastically together. We are always on the same page and I can hand over a few parts for him to work on and know that with minimal work we can tie everything together and it just flow.

Have you had any fights over decisions about the story?
No true fights, but some minor disagreements, we figured out what would be best for our characters and went with that.

Was there a hunk that influenced your first set of novella’s, the dark and sexy, Just a Little Taste?
Hmm... I see him quite a bit like a dark Paul Walker. The sweetness that Jeremy has definitely is inspired by my husband, but the little bit of bad ass is inspired quite a bit by tough guys like Vin Diesel etc. So he's a mishmash of sexy.

Can we meet him?
:p HAH! I'd love that. He'd be one hell of a guy.

What was the last book you read?
I re-read a wonderful book by Jade McCahon called “A Night at the Asylum”. I'm also working on “Night Boys in: If Looks Could Kill” by Diamant.

In what way do you think you influence your readers?
Wow... This is a tough one. I've never really seen myself as influential. I would hope, that after they read one of my books... That maybe they feel a little more. I try to really evoke a lot of emotion in my books. Maybe they go out and grab life and love by the horns. Never know :)

Do you plot or outline your stories before writing them? Or let the wind blow you along?
I have never written an outline in my life. It used to drive my teachers nuts, but I always came out with a great paper. I let the wind take me where it wants... It has always given me a better book.

 Book or Kindle?
I prefer Kindle, I have arthritis from Lyme in my hands and the Kindle is lighter to hold. :)

Reading or writing?
I prefer to write, most of the time. It is hard to get me to stop. I do love to read too... Hard choice.

If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it be and why?
I wish I had written Matilda by Roald Dahl. Fantastic Book.

Do you have any amusing writing stories to share?
I'm moderately dyslexic, so there are times I mix up words... I will be reading through my manuscript and read some awkward things... I have to read through them a lot.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
If the world tells you no and knocks you down seven times, stand up eight. Write what you feel. Paint a beautiful picture on paper with your words and you can't go wrong. Don't sell out, write what you love, and never, ever give up.

Scarlett, you know we love you here at BR! You have been AWESOME and we have been Booky Ramblings. Thank you.

Don’t forget to check out September Tango, available 22/7/13

Book of the Week

Fear of Falling by S.L. Jennings

This book instantly grabbed our attention. Hopefully it grabs your as well!

Fear of Falling

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.
